Busy week for musical theatre. In Milan comes the original English production of the famous musical "Mamma Mia!" on the songs of Abba, which has been on stage in London for twenty-six years. At La Scala there is a world premiere, the opera 'The Name of the Rose', based on the famous novel by Umberto Eco; Francesco Filidei, who also co-authored the libretto, will perform the music. In Bari and Bologna, exceptional stages of the Berlin Philharmonic, conducted by Riccardo Muti.
Milan
From 30 April to 11 May at the Teatro degli Arcimboldi the musical 'Mamma Mia!'. It has been on stage in London for twenty-six years; here it arrives in the original English production (with Italian surtitles). The songs are the famous ones by Abba - in addition to the title song, we remember Super Trouper, Lay All Your Love on Me, Dancing Queen, among others. It has been on Broadway for fifteen years and will return next August. Two films have also been made of it: the first, in 2008, with stars such as Meryl Streep, Colin Firth, Pierce Brosnan, filmed on the Greek islands of Skopelos and Skiathos, responding to the dramaturgical indications; the sequel (Mamma Mia! Here we go again), with the same stars, ten years later and with comparable box office.
Bari and Bologna
Special occasion on 1 May at 11 am at the Petruzzelli Theatre to hear the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, conductor Riccardo Muti. The programme includes music by Rossini, Verdi, Brahms. On the 30th at 5.45 p.m. open rehearsal for students and citizens supported by the municipal welfare services.
Another date on the 2nd at the PalaDozza in Bologna, for the Bologna Festival.

On 30 April and 3-6-10 May at La Scala, premiere of the new opera "The Name of the Rose", music by Francesco Filidei, libretto by the composer himself and Stefano Busellato, freely adapted from the novel of the same name by Umberto Eco. Conducted by Ingo Metzmacher, directed by Damiano Michieletto; in the large company of singers, the voices of Kate Lindsey, Daniela Barcellona, Carlo Vistoli, Roberto Frontali. An hour before each performance, an introduction to the opera given by Liana Püschel. The audio recording of the opera is still available on RAI Radio Tre until 3 May; the cameras of Rai Cultura filmed the performance to broadcast it deferred.
