From all over Italy to Maranello to design, build and race their own mini Formula 1 car. This is the essence of F1 in Schools Italy 2025, the international competition that combines training, technology and passion for engines, and that this year, on 15 June, will see the ten best Italian teams compete at the Scuderia Ferrari logistics centre.
The project
.The project represents one of the most advanced teaching formats in the field of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), bringing a complete experience into classrooms and school laboratories: from CAD design to fluid dynamics, from the choice of materials to the construction of CO₂ mini-cars, without neglecting communication, brand identity and business plan. In total, 456 students from all over Italy started; after the selections, 60 remained in the finals, divided into 10 teams of 3 to 6 students each.
Training opportunities
.In addition to the technical and sporting challenge, the project offers concrete training opportunities thanks to the support of ARTES 4.0, the Highly Specialised Competence Centre promoted by the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy (MIMIT) within the framework of the National Industry 4.0 Plan. ARTES 4.0 will award three special prizes that will take the best students to experience laboratories of excellence in the Italian university and industrial system.
Innovative and sustainable approach
.The team with the most innovative and sustainable approach will be rewarded with a week's internship at the Institute of BioRobotics of the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna in Pisa, a founding partner of ARTES 4.0. The winner of the acceleration test will instead have access to a programme of activities at the Firenze Race Team and the LINEA laboratory at the University of Florence, where research on hydrogen-powered engines is being developed. Finally, the Circular Excellence & Best Recyclability Mindset Award will offer the winners a day of technical meetings and experiential tours at the Hitachi Rail headquarters in Pistoia, also an ARTES 4.0 partner.
Investing in youth
"Investing in young people means building the future. With F1 in Schools we reward the courage of those who experiment, the intelligence of those who innovate, and the determination of those who believe in continuous improvement. We want to accompany these young people on a path of passion and talent," emphasises Francesca Tonini, Executive Director of ARTES 4.0.
