Atm, the Milanese transport company, says goodbye to the 'disposable' ticket: from 7 May, the ticket for accessing buses, trams, trolleybuses and the metro becomes rechargeable. RicaricaMi is the new ticket that allows you to recharge up to 30 journeys in a single ticket at no extra cost. The new ticket is not nominative: it can be used by different people but not at the same time. The aim is to avoid as much as possible the waste of disposable tickets and paper in a concrete vision of environmental sustainability, which encourages people to reload their tickets instead of throwing them away after each trip. For a transitional period, it will still be possible to use the old tickets, which will be valid until 30 November 2024.

The promotional campaign

To raise awareness and inform customers, the communication campaign 'Reduce. Reuse. RicaricaMi' in underground stations, at surface stops, on board vehicles and on all Atm's digital channels: website, app, social media. The company has also created a video tutorial to explain how to use and recharge the new RicaricaMi ticket. Finally, Atm staff will be present in the main metro stations to provide all passengers with the necessary assistance.

How to use it

The new RicaricaMi is an electronic ticket: to use it, you approach the reader at the metro turnstiles or the validating machines on board surface vehicles. The new ticket does not have to be inserted into the slot at the turnstiles, which is only for old tickets. In view of this digital evolution, Atm has installed 850 new readers on the metro, which, thanks to customised graphics, will guide the passenger to the validation point. RicaricaMi can be purchased and recharged at Atm ticket machines and authorised points of sale such as bars, newsagents or tobacconists. The ticket can contain up to 30 ordinary tickets with the same fare and up to 5 carnets. To load a different fare, you must first use up the tickets already loaded: for example, if RicaricaMi contains 5 Mi1-Mi3 tickets, you must use them all up before loading a ticket with a Mi4-Mi5 fare. Fares for all zones of the Stibm integrated system (Mi1-Mi9) can be loaded. Please note that the tickets loaded on RicaricaMi can also be used on Trenord railway routes and on the means of transport of extra-urban operators operating in the Stibm fare system area.
