The traditional opera season at Rome's Terme di Caracalla is given a new impetus this year, entrusting its artistic direction to a director like Damiano Michieletto. It is an interesting playbill, featuring a new production of the famous musical 'West Side Story' directed by Michieletto and conducted by Michele Mariotti, the musical director of the Rome Opera. After 48(!) years, Bellini's masterpiece 'Norma' will be staged at La Scala.

Bellini's "Norma" returns to La Scala after 48 years, seven performances between 27 June and 17 July. Conducted by Fabio Luisi in a new production designed by Olivier Py. An hour before the start of each performance, an introductory meeting on the opera held by Fabio Sartorelli will be held in the Ridotto dei Palchi.
The opera will be broadcast live on Radio3 on 27 June, and on 4 July from 7.45pm on LaScalaTv where it will remain available on demand until 11 July.
