An elegant made-in-Italy touch to push the innovation line further in the rainbow of aquatic disciplines.

Myrtha Pools, the international brand of Piscine Castiglione, a company based in Castigione delle Stiviere with a turnover of more than 130 million in 2024, 360 employees and 12 branches worldwide, was in fact a protagonist at the World Swimming Championships in Singapore.

The Italian company, an industry leader, supplied two 50-metre pools installed in the new World Aquatics Championships Arena, located next to the National Stadium, for the Asian competition. Two pools, three metres deep, one for the swimming competitions (which began last 27 July) and artistic swimming (held at the end of July) and the other to host the athletes' warm-up.

A Global Partner of World Aquatics since 2009, on the occasion of the World Championships in Rome, Myrtha Pools has, however, been present on the world scene for over 60 years and has been increasingly appreciated by organisers and athletes alike for the sporting performance guaranteed by the technical characteristics of the facilities developed over time.

To date, 179 world records have been set in Myrtha pools. The last one in chronological order was set on 30 July by French star Leon Marchand, who had already won four individual gold medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics (also in a Myrtha pool). In the Singapore pool, he cancelled Ryan Lochte's record in the 200 medley, which he won with a time of 1.52.69, after 14 years.

Myrtha pools are equipped with unique modular stainless steel technology and combine flexibility, precision and sustainability. Technical solutions that are also suitable for both permanent and temporary structures, which are increasingly demanded by international sports organisers for economic reasons.

In particular, what distinguishes temporary pools is their post-event potential: they are designed to be reinstalled and after the event they can be transferred to local swimming centres, leaving a tangible legacy for grassroots sport and swimming development. And that is exactly what will happen Singapore.

Economic but also environmental sustainability. In line with the innovations presented at the Paris Olympic Games, the Singapore swimming pools were built for the first time with the Myrtha R-Evolution membrane, made of 60% recycled materials and completely recyclable at the end of its life. Certified by RecyClass, the membrane represents, in effect, a further step towards increasingly green pool design. Compared to traditional construction methods, the Myrtha pools installed in Singapore allow a 45 per cent reduction in carbon dioxide emissions. Moreover, during the rainbow, water circulation was ensured by the advanced Strahlenturbulenz system, based on the Venturi effect. A mechanism that, in practice, uses wall nozzles to ensure an even, turbulence-free flow, thereby helping to create ideal conditions for swimmers.

"We are proud to see, once again, our Made in Italy swimming pools in the limelight at the World Aquatics World Championships in Singapore," emphasises Roberto Colletto, CEO of Myrtha Pools. "This region, and in particular South-East Asia, represents a strategic market for Myrtha, not only for sports facilities, but also for swimming pools for resorts and hotels. Thanks to Myrtha's unique technology, we are able to build both World Cup pools that can be re-installed at the end of competitions as well as 50-storey hotel pools that can withstand even extreme weather conditions, such as typhoons, all while maintaining a focus on sustainability. Just in Singapore we have obtained three important product certifications from the Singapore Green Building Council'. Myrtha Pools' presence in Italy, Europe, the USA and South-East Asia goes beyond sports facilities. With an expanding portfolio in the luxury hotellerie sector, the company works with architects and hotel chains to create state-of-the-art swimming pools and wellness centres.
