Giorgetti: We will be discussing the use of the safeguard clause for energy in the coming days

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - “In the coming days, we will have to discuss the use of the safeguard clause.” This was stated by the Minister for the Economy, Giancarlo Giorgetti, in response to Question Time in the Chamber of Deputies on measures to tackle high fuel prices. “On fuel prices,” he said, “the government intervened in 2026 with measures totalling 2 billion, and in Europe they are trying to copy our actions. We must recognise the international situation: we are aware of it and were the first to act to secure an exemption from the rules – the so-called NEC – the use of which we must discuss in the coming days.”
