Axios: Trump convenes summit on Gaza's future next week. Israel completes troop withdrawal
Peace in Gaza after 734 days of war, the historic agreement between Israel and Hamas announced by Trump in the night has been signed. Celebrations in the streets of the Strip and in Tel Aviv. The total ceasefire will take place immediately after ratification by the Netanyahu government, expected this evening. The first phase of the agreement envisages the release of the 20 live hostages within the next 72 hours ('Monday or Tuesday') in exchange for 1,950 Palestinian prisoners, among whom, however, there will be no Barghouti. Hamas has asked for 10 days to return the bodies of the others. Trump is exultant: 'We have stopped the war, it will be a lasting peace'. The US leader is expected in Israel on Sunday, then in Egypt for the official signing of the agreement. Netanyahu: 'Now give him the Nobel Peace Prize'

Truce triggers. Idf retreats, thousands to Gaza City
In Gaza, the truce was triggered, immediately after the Netanyahu government's approval of the peace agreement. And shortly after midday on Friday, the Israeli army announced that it had completed its withdrawal in the Strip, behind the Yellow Line drawn in the maps contained in the Trump plan. Thus began the countdown to the 72 hours granted to Hamas for the release of the 20 live hostages, held in Gaza for 735 days.
In return, Israel will release around 2,000 Palestinian prisoners, 250 of whom are serving life sentences for terrorist attacks that have killed dozens of Israeli civilians and maimed hundreds more. But it will not release, as it has already reiterated, the prisoners-symbols for Hamas, first and foremost Marwan Barghouti.
The reaction of the population of Gaza to Tsahal's announcement was not long in coming: thousands poured onto the Rashid road, opened by the troops, to return home or what remains to the north. Pictures posted on social media from the enclave show a very long line of people walking, with their parcels, a few possessions, old bags packed.
In the meantime, aid is on its way: Israel has given the UN the green light to start delivering it on Sunday. In the evening, Channel 12 and Axios revealed that Trump is planning a summit on Gaza in Egypt, probably in Sharm, next week, at the same time as the signing ceremony of the agreement. The leaders of Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Qatar, Jordan, Turkey and Saudi Arabia will attend the meeting and, according to some sources, it has been organised by Egyptian President Sisi. Indonesia, Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates are also expected to attend, while Benyamin Netanyahu is not expected to attend for now.
The summit is expected to be preceded by a lightning visit by the US president to Israel scheduled for Monday: just enough time to meet with the hostages' families and give a speech to the Knesset. Before Shabbat began, the IDF spokesman held a press briefing showing the military's repositioning in general, but afterwards the armed forces stated that the maps shown by Effie Defrin were only "an illustration and do not represent the exact positions of the troops". The army does not want to give details of the current deployment.

Israel: hostage release possibly before Monday
The Israeli authorities believe that Hamas could release the hostages before the scheduled deadline, perhaps as early as Sunday, the Israeli press reported, citing government sources in the Jewish state. "It could happen any day now, from now on," the sources explained, pointing out, however, that there was no confirmation that Hamas would release the hostages before Monday.

Cardinal Zuppi: 'Agreement is an important start'
"Solutions need to be strengthened, we are at the beginning, but how important it is to stop," said Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, interviewed by Tg2 Post, commenting on the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip. "Then there will be many problems, such as war crimes, the problem of defending the West Bank, where there is so much tension, avoiding occupation and respecting the law: but it is an important start," he concluded.

Parolin: Israeli accusations? Interview meant to be an invitation to peace
Mattarella: 'Now historical perspective involving Palestinians'
"In recent months, Italy has provided its aid. It has done so mainly through the 'Food for Gaza' initiative. However, this one of ours as well as the many actions put in place by numerous countries have unfortunately only concerned a minimal part of those who have suffered the cruelty of military actions. These sufferings - like all those suffered - will remain inscribed in the DNA of the new generations, undermining any possibility of a future of peace without a truly historic and therefore involving political perspective for the Palestinians. A perspective that absorbs and removes the high risks of new explosions of violence, the result of the amount of resentment and rancour accumulated in this tragic period. Peace must be acquired in the souls of peoples, otherwise it is not peace", said the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, speaking at the Arraiolos summit.

On Sunday, 12 October, Crosetto continues, 'the operations for the release of the Israeli hostages and the release of Palestinian prisoners will begin. The Israelis are taking steps to restore the logistical functionality of the crossing's infrastructure very quickly.
Approximately 600 tractor-trailers of humanitarian aid per day flow into Gaza from other (non-Rafah) crossings.
The transfer of personnel will not be limited to serious clinical cases, but will be extended to anyone who wants it (subject to the agreement of Israel and Egypt)'.

The Egyptian president's statement highlights concerns about the transition period between the announcement of the agreement and its official signing. Trump's diplomatic strike, now dreams of history
Dall’assegno in bianco a Israele all’irritazione dopo l’attacco contro i leader di Hamas in Qatar.

UN, 170,000 tonnes aid ready for Gaza
UN humanitarian aid chief Tom Fletcher says 170 thousand tonnes of aid is ready to be sent to Gaza and adds that there should be "no backtracking" on the agreement. "We are ready to go," Fletcher said, warning that there should be "no backtracking" by either side of the agreement. He outlined plans for the first 60 days of the ceasefire, which will include an increase in the supply of supplies to hundreds of trucks each day. "We will increase the supply of food throughout Gaza to reach 2.1 million people who need food aid and about 500 thousand people who need nutrition," he said.

In Gaza they celebrate but few trust
by Sami al Ajrami - ANSA
Gioia, spari in aria, fuochi d’artificio, gente in strada a festeggiare.

Meloni claims, silent work Italy, peace is not built with flags
The signing of the first phase of the peace agreement between Israel and Hamas has made Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni rejoice: "I am very proud of the silent but constant work that Italy has done, to remind us that peace is built by working on it and not just by waving flags," the Prime Minister emphasises, pointing out: "It is extraordinary news, I imagine that everyone understands that this is a historic day," and then continues: "We must give credit to the extraordinary work carried out in particular by Trump, but we must also thank the mediators who have been numerous in these hours. There has been teamwork that has been extremely valuable and that allows us to begin a new phase today. The tenant of Palazzo Chigi also reiterates that "Italy is ready to contribute to the stabilisation, reconstruction and development of Gaza.
Vice-Premier Matteo Salvini goes further: 'If the guns finally fall silent, President Donald Trump truly deserves the Nobel Peace Prize'. And Foreign Minister and Blue Council Vice-President Antonio Tajani emphasises that the tycoon, should he achieve the goal of peace, which 'is as close as ever', 'would certainly have the qualifications' to aspire for the Nobel.
The political debate is heated. The majority rejoices, underlining the role of the Meloni government that "has always supported this plan" of Trump's. "Accomplices, yes: of peace in Palestine," pokes Arianna Meloni, head of the political secretariat of FdI. And the president of the Senate, Ignazio La Russa, comments: "It's wonderful news. A path of peace that is going very, very far for which we must thank those who have been involved, starting with Trump and the countries that have been up to the situation and also Giorgia Meloni who, as someone said, is an accomplice of peace and is a source of pride for all of us Italians.
