Free 'homework help' for children and teenagers in the mural village

It has become famous for the more than 40 murals created over the years by artists from all over the world. With its 'Borgo Universo', it has become an international reference point for street artists and, in addition to welcoming many tourists at any time of the year, it does not neglect the everyday life and well-being of its approximately 1400 inhabitants.

The municipal administration of Aielli (Aq), led by the mayor Enzo Di Natale, has organised a 'free homework help' service for primary and secondary school children starting on Wednesday 11 March. The initiative, which will be active until the end of the school year with two weekly appointments, is the brainchild of town councillor Cristina Nucci and has been realised in collaboration with the La Maesa Community Cooperative, the same one that is responsible for accompanying those who come to this town in the province of L'Aquila to visit Borgo Universo and the astronomical observatory in the medieval tower, on a tour of the murals.

The project is free of charge, designed to offer concrete support to Aiello families, guaranteeing children qualified help with their homework. 'This initiative,' says Councillor Nucci, 'stems from listening to the needs of our families. We know how complex it is to reconcile work rhythms with the management of children and how much the costs of private tutoring can affect the family economy. With the homework help service, we want to offer real support that is accessible to everyone, at no cost to families". "For a community like ours," the councillor continues, "it is essential to show real attention and proximity. Investing in children and young people means investing in Aielli's future. I thank the La Maesa Community Cooperative for the cooperation and willingness shown in making this project possible".
