Accidents, Inail: in the first 10 months of 2025 +4.7% of student complaints
The increase is in comparison with last year and concerns schools of all levels. 1.512 complaints concerned young people involved in 'school-to-work' training, a decrease of 8.9% compared to 2024
There were 64,391 accident reports from students of all levels submitted to Inail by October 2025, up 4.7% from 61,523 in 2024. Of the more than 64,000 accident reports, 1,512 concerned students involved in 'school-to-work' courses, a decrease of 8.9% compared to 2024. The incidence of injuries occurring to students accounts for 12.9% of the total number of reported injuries in 2025. 42% involve female students (+4.6% increase between 2024 and 2025), 58% students (+4.7%). Three out of four accidents concern students under 15, a quarter those aged 15 and over. Lombardy is the region with the most complaints (24% of the national total, +7.1% over 2024), followed by Veneto (13%, +12.2%), Emilia-Romagna (12%, +3.1%) and Piedmont (10%, +8.0%). Ninety-five per cent of the complaints concerned students in state schools, the remaining five per cent students in non-state and public schools. Ninety-seven per cent of the reported cases occurred during school activities, 3% on the way to and from school. There were seven fatal cases reported to Inail by October 2025 compared to 13 in 2024. The data are provisional and are subject to change, particularly for accidents occurring in 'school-to-work' courses, in addition to those with a fatal outcome, as a result of the processing of files for recognition.
