In June 2025, inflation rose slightly to 1.7 per cent from 1.6 per cent in May, according to preliminary estimates. Istat noted this, specifying that the increase in consumer prices on a monthly basis was 0.2%. The rise in the cost of living, Istat explains, is mainly attributable to the effect of the tensions recorded on food prices (+3.5% from +3.0% in May). In the energy sector, on the contrary, the decline in prices on a trend basis was accentuated (-2.5% from -2.0%), driven by the strong deceleration of prices of the regulated component (+22.7% from +29.3%).
