Contributions collected by the Inps in 2023 amount to 214.6 billion, an increase of 4 per cent compared to 2022, linked to increased recruitment last year and a significant jump in assessments. Pension expenditure grows to almost 270 billion. Overall, collections for the year amounted to 395.86 billion with an increase of 4.43% over 2022, while payments amounted to 396.86 billion with an increase of 7.36% over 2022. The figure is affected by adjustments for inflation (final percentage calculated by Istat at 8.1%). Expenditure on institutional benefits amounted to 317 billion. There were 17.8 million pensions and 3.6 million disability benefits.
The Progress Report 2023
The Inps, in releasing a summary of the final report on production trends for 2023 accompanied by cash flows, also emphasised that 4,791 people were hired during the year against 1,434 retirements, bringing the total number of employees to 26,712 (+14.63%). There are 26 million insured workers and 1.8 million insured enterprises.
Increasing contributions
.The initiatives put in place, in line with the Government's policies of incentivising work and combating tax evasion, produced noteworthy results, such as a 4% increase in total contributions compared to the previous year, totalling 214.6 billion lire, and an improvement in the indicator of the economic-financial effectiveness of production. Particularly positive was the outcome of the settlement of individual insurance accounts and the management of litigation. The level of individual employee productivity exceeded the expected target and was higher than the already positive 2022 target, mainly due to the professionalism and commitment of all staff, but also due to the positive effects of digitalisation, which reduced processing times and increased efficiency. By way of example: the automation of Naspi settlement allowed 82% of claims to be settled within 15 days (4% more than in 2022).
The impact of technology
.In addition, technology has made access to services easier, as witnessed by the significant increase in the number of users, including older people, who used online services in 2023: 58 million people over 65 accessed with their SPID, CIE or CNS, 17 million more than in 2022. The introduction of Artificial Intelligence also further improved the effectiveness of individual action: individual productivity was 11.5 % higher than the standard.
Caridi (dg Inps): quality leap in public welfare
'These data testify to a constant implementation capacity of the Inps technical structure, which goes hand in hand with a design and development capacity at the service of citizens,' commented Inps CEO Vincenzo Caridi. 'In the interest of the weaker segments of the population and for a definitive quality leap in public welfare. Thanks to the Pnrr, more than 100 services have been introduced and the digital skills of more than 13,000 employees have been trained, structuring a stable chain of innovation for the near future as well'.
