Even the intending parent in a female couple is entitled to compulsory paternity leave of 10 days after the birth of a child, doubled to 20 in the case of multiple births. This was clarified by the Inps in a message following the Court ruling that declared the non-recognition of this right illegitimate. This ruling by the Court," the Inps explains, "produces direct effects in the Italian legal system and, therefore, an employee who, as part of a homogenous female couple, is the intended parent as recorded in the civil status registers, is entitled to benefit from compulsory paternity leave of 10 working days (20 days in the case of multiple births).
