Key points
Ania and the unions have renewed the national collective labour agreement for the 47,000 employees of insurance companies. The renewal, as highlighted in a note by the association led by president Giovanni Liverani, has developed in an economic and productive context characterised by profound transformations and uncertainties, and in the end has guaranteed the recovery of workers' purchasing power. The increase, according to the unions (Fna, Snfia, First, Fisac and Uilca), is about 11.5%.
L’aumento
The pay increase for the 47,000 employees of insurance companies is EUR 280 over the period of validity (13 May 2026 to 31 May 2028). Added to this is a one-off EUR 1,000 for 2025, which will be paid as EUR 550 in cash and EUR 450 in welfare. The 2026 tranche will be paid, with arrears, on 31 July 2026. . The one-off payment will be EUR 550 in cash and EUR 450 in welfare.
More organisational flexibility
For the companies, the agreement reached represents 'a result of balance and responsibility, capable of providing concrete responses both to the needs of workers and to the need for companies to operate within a framework of economic, organisational and competitive sustainability'. The Ania negotiating delegation, led by Matteo Campaner, Managing Director of Vittoria Assicurazioni, focused on safeguarding purchasing power, greater flexibility in the organisation of work, and the strengthening of protections concerning civil and social rights. On the welfare front, targeted measures were shared on work-life balance, inclusion and equal opportunities, which constitute a modern contractual reference model, consistent with the evolution of production processes, and attentive to the centrality of people and their needs for welfare and assistance. Among the qualifying elements of the agreement are also measures aimed at accompanying the sector's evolution processes, in light of the challenges posed by the technological transition.
Company compactness
"The signing of the new collective agreement," explained Ania Chairman Giovanni Liverani, "is a great result of the sector's cooperation with the social partners, achieved thanks to the unity of the association front, to the benefit of the entire sector. With this agreement, the parties have demonstrated a sense of responsibility and the ability to confront each other, identifying solutions capable of combining the enhancement of work with sustainability for the business system'. After the governance reform of 2025, 'Ania confirms its role as an effective intermediary body for the achievement of common objectives to the benefit of the insurance industry and the entire socio-economic system. In fact, we consider it a clear message of consistency with our mission to recognise the importance of insurance cover against catastrophic risks, which has also been implemented in our national collective labour agreement, through special facilities at company level for all employees in the sector, as well as the strengthening of supplementary welfare. The renewal of the contracts is an important step to ensure stability, competitiveness and development prospects for the entire insurance and social security chain'.
The Protocol on Ai and Welfare
The agreement also contains a joint declaration on artificial intelligence that can only be used to support human labour and on which a protocol is to be drawn up where the focus will be on transparency, training and the protection of workers in digitisation processes. In this regard, a national committee will be set up to monitor and manage the transformation processes in the sector. Regulatory protections have also been strengthened on key issues such as health, fragility, work-life balance and the right to disconnection. Particular attention was also paid to the professionalism of the production organisation. With regard to the reduction of working time, the companies recognised an additional 6 hours of leave to the already existing 8 hours (art. 39). On the subject of civil rights, we strengthened the aspects of inclusiveness and protection of disabilities, parenthood (with additional leave for fathers), and sick leave. The case of voluntary work has been introduced, which will be regulated at the company level. Furthermore, there is a commitment by Ania to take responsibility for creating the conditions for overcoming the contractual dumping of the insurance contract. The new contract protects situations of fragility and economic increase for producers, in addition to the amount provided for all personnel, of 7% on the first level and 3% on the second level. With regard to contact centre employees, following a practice already in use in the sector and in the event of employment tensions, Ania made a recommendation for employment and professional protection. As far as professional grading is concerned, only a limited temporal extension of the conditional fungibility between the fourth and fifth level was defined, which increases from 8 to 12 months. Outside of this limited intervention, the topic was postponed. For the former Aisa, economic recognition with the same percentage as Ania, i.e. 11.48%, was provided for 2025, 2026 and 2027, with the last instalment in January 2028.
