By now, the road seems marked and appears, perhaps for the first time in this troubled history that has lasted more than five years, to be downhill. Inter and Milan will build the new stadium in the area of San Siro. Alternative projects in Rozzano and San Donato are increasingly on stand-by. And away with the hypothesis of restructuring Webuild. The two clubs will soon proceed with the presentation of the expression of interest useful for the continuation of the proceedings. Of the old San Siro a part of the helicoidal structure facing the trotting area, the Curva Sud and a piece of the grandstand should remain.
The meeting at the Ministry of Culture
.This solution, which had taken shape in recent weeks, emerged strengthened from the meeting this morning, 22 October, between the mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, a delegation from Inter and Milan, represented by the clubs' directors, namely Milan president Paolo Scaroni and Inter's corporate CEO Alessandro Antonello, and owners Oaktree Capital and Redbird Capital Partners, and superintendent Emanuela Carpani, with Culture Minister Alessandro Giuli. Sports and Youth Minister Andrea Abodi also attended the meeting.
In a note, Palazzo Marino emphasised how, during the meeting, the hypothesis for the construction of Milan's new stadium at San Siro and the development of the surrounding areas was presented to the ministers, along with the guidelines for the redevelopment of the Meazza stadium, already shared with superintendent Carpani. On the part of all the interlocutors 'there was appreciation and satisfaction'. A sort of political endorsement, then.
Club requests
.Inter and AC Milan had made three requests to Palazzo Marino in the past few days: to know the value of San Siro and the adjacent areas, on which the Agenzia delle Entrate will soon pronounce; to understand in detail how much and how the superintendence's restriction on the second ring of San Siro will affect it, also in view of a privatisation of the facility; and the timing of the operation. Sala has already explained in this regard "that we are not starting from scratch, but from a series of acts already done and from a precise expression of the will of the city council. As far as the constraint is concerned, if the plant were to be purchased by private individuals before the 75 years fall next year, it would in fact be 'light' and not integral.
The accelerated procedure
.In fact, the two clubs have decided to reactivate the San Siro dossier by taking advantage of the fact that there is still an open procedure and that an important change to the law on stadiums took place in 2023. In fact, the current Article 4, paragraph 13 contemplates the possibility of starting a private negotiation between the municipality and the proponents in order to speed up the presentation and negotiation of the urban project and thus meet all the demands of the public parties. Inter and Milan would prefer this phase to be carried out in any case by 'public evidence' in order to guarantee maximum transparency to the administrative process.
