International Criminal Court: Prosecutor Khan has been removed

The member states of the International Criminal Court have voted to remove Karim Khan from his post as prosecutor following allegations of sexual misconduct. Diplomatic sources have confirmed this to Reuters and the Associated Press.
According to Axios, 82 of the 125 States Parties to the ICC voted in favour of the prosecutor’s removal, 13 voted against, and 15 abstained. Khan has consistently denied all allegations.

Axios reports that a senior Israeli official has stated that, in recent days, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar and Israeli embassies around the world have been working to rally as many countries as possible to vote in favour of Khan’s dismissal or, at the very least, to abstain.
Khan’s lawyer: ‘The prosecutor will challenge his removal from the ICC’
The Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Karim Khan, who was removed from his post following allegations – which he denies – of sexual assault against a member of his team, will “challenge” this decision, which was voted on today by the ICC’s Assembly of States Parties. This was announced by his lawyer, Tayab Ali, on X. “Mr Khan will challenge the legality and fairness of the decision through all available legal mechanisms,” the lawyer wrote. “Mr Khan is grateful to those States Parties, members of civil society, lawyers and Court staff who have defended the principles of due process, judicial independence and equality before the law,” the lawyer concluded.
