InvestCloud Marghera dismisses all 37 employees, replaced by Ai

"The case of InvestCloud Italy (Ex Finantix) in Marghera demonstrates in a practical way how the technological 'Transition' has a heavy impact on labour and now increasingly on the metalworking sector, overwhelming that idea of social justice, employment protection and local enterprise for which we fight every day". The secretary general of Fim Cisl Venezia Matteo Masiero intervenes on the InvestCloud Italy case, based in Marghera (Venice), which has started the paperwork for the collective dismissal of all its 37 employees due to the cessation of activity at the Venetian site, the only one in Italia, directly calling into question artificial intelligence and its impact on employment.

The new organisational model of the US group based on integrated systems with artificial intelligence would basically not foresee the maintenance of autonomous local structures. Customised solutions based on the customer's country, according to the trade unions, 'have had their day, and national structures will be phased out. In their place, the focus will be on a few global centres of excellence, with a strategy based on an acceleration of investments in artificial intelligence-based solutions and a strengthening of the focus on replicable and scalable innovation'.

In fact, the company, which belongs to a US group and operates in the financial technology sector, told Federmeccanica, trade union organisations, and Confindustria Veneto Est (Confederation of Italian Industry in the East of Veneto) that the decision was based on a new organisational model based on systems integrated with artificial intelligence that 'does not envisage maintaining autonomous local structures'.

"As Fim Cisl Venezia we will meet with the workers and, subsequently, we will put in place all the actions at our disposal to protect employment also through the involvement of the crisis unit of the Region," Masiero said. "It is evident that, when dealing with intangible goods and services, the constraints of space and time are broken, and with them the whole system of contractual protections, from labour costs to wages and social protections, is called into question. The fact that these conditions lead to global labour mobility forces us to confront models very different from the one we know. We need action and new regulations to stem a phenomenon that threatens to spread throughout the ICT sector,' he adds

InvestCloud acquired the former Finantix in 2021, bringing it under the same roof with Tegra 118. A reality of more than 900 employees, 'who, with the hunger for IT skills, in a sector characterised by consistently high turnover, could find employment without great difficulty. We will meet and monitor them,' explains Michele Zanocco, secretary general of Fim Cisl Venezia.
