Flaminia Pace has resigned from the National Youth Council and Elisa Segnini has resigned as head secretary of Ylenja Lucaselli, FdI's group leader in the Chamber's Budget Committee. Both have been implicated in the Fanpage investigation that told of anti-Semitic and racist insults and glorification of Nazism by militants of the National Youth, who over the years have collaborated, or still collaborate, with the top leaders of Fratelli d'Italia.

'I think that what happened should be verified and that even in private conversations, which violate all privacy, one should not fall for these statements that are devoid of logic and sense. There have been some acknowledgements from those in charge: one of the leaders has resigned," said Fratelli d'Italia Tommaso Foti group leader at the Chamber of Deputies, commenting on the Fanpage investigation and responding to a question on Flaminia Pace's resignation from the National Youth Council. 'She has resigned,' he clarified, 'from the institutional body, the most important among the positions held. In FdI those who make mistakes pay, rest assured'.

National Youth Council: Flaminia Pace resigned 21 June

Flaminia Pace's resignation actually dates back to 21 June but was only made public today. "As soon as the National Youth Council learnt of all that had emerged from the enquiry conducted by Fanpage.it and reported by the national press, the Presidential Council, considering this to be extremely serious and a blatant violation of all the values and principles that have always animated the National Youth Council, distancing itself clearly from it and not being able to proceed, due to statutory provisions, with an act of urgency directly to the revocation of an elective office, had already asked for her immediate resignation by resolution of 17 June. The resignation of Flaminia Pace, from the European Affairs and Cooperation Commission of the National Youth Council, was received on 21 June 2024".

La Russa: 'From militants unacceptable phrases'

"My most sincere and affectionate solidarity to Senator and friend Ester Mieli, victim of unacceptable phrases by some militants of National Youth,' wrote Ignazio La Russa, President of the Senate and one of the founders of Fratelli d'Italia with Giorgia Meloni, on social media. 'Phrases that go against the values of our party, firmly rooted in the principles of democracy, freedom and respect for human dignity. I express my total and firm condemnation of all forms of racism and anti-Semitism, which have always been at the antipodes of the values that have inspired my political commitment'.

"We reiterate: there is no room in Fratelli d'Italia for racists, extremists and anti-Semites," said MP and Fratelli d'Italia organisation head, Giovanni Donzelli. "The phrases heard in videos released today that show our party militants using language incompatible with the values of our political movement are unacceptable, despite the way they were captured and disseminated. Solidarity with Senator Ester Mieli for the insults directed at her. Fratelli d'Italia will take very firm action against those responsible'.

Crosetto: in FdI there is no room for such people

"I want to express my total solidarity and closeness with Senator Ester Mieli, who has been the victim of intolerable offences that cannot go unheeded. In the party of which I was proudly one of the founders, there can be no room for people, words and thoughts such as those I have heard. Immediate and exemplary measures must be taken, as the FdI leadership has already announced. It is imperative to react harshly. Sorry, Ester, on behalf of all of us'. Writing this is the Minister of Defence, Guido Crosetto.

Fanpage investigation: "Anti-Semitic insults and FdI youths"

Anti-Semitic, racist insults and glorification of Nazism by militants of Gioventù nazionale, who over the years have collaborated, or are still collaborating, with the top leaders of Fratelli d'Italia. This is what the second instalment of Fanpage's enquiry 'Gioventù meloniana', screened last night at the Monk in Rome, recounts. Fratelli d'Italia deputy and head of organisation, Giovanni Donzelli, yesterday defined as 'unacceptable - despite the manner in which they were captured and disseminated - the phrases heard in footage released today that show militants of our party using language incompatible with the values of reference of our political movement'. And he promised that Fratelli d'Italia will intervene. Meanwhile, the opposition attacks: 'The growing climate of anti-Semitism that is emerging throughout Europe in the context of extremist formations is of great concern,' reads a note by Italia Viva. 'Senator Ester Mieli receives the solidarity of Matteo Renzi and the whole of Italia Viva for the anti-Semitic insults addressed to her by the young members of Fratelli d'Italia, which emerged from the Fanpage investigation.

Phrases by Flaminia Pace

And it is precisely of Ester Mieli that Flaminia Pace, secretary of the Roman Pinciano circle of Gioventù Nazionale, the FdI youth movement, speaks - without knowing she is being filmed - 'The most beautiful thing was yesterday taking the piss out of each other.... for the swastikas and then me having made the press release of solidarity with Ester Mieli...,' she says. 'I've never stopped being racist and fascist,' claims - again unaware that she is being recorded - Elisa Segnini, head secretary of MP Ylenia Lucaselli. She adds: 'I'm going to Budapest to party and tell Orban that Ilaria Salis must rot in jail with rats and mice eating her feet'. "Homophobia, racism, nostalgia for Benito Mussolini, sympathies for Adolf Hitler and Nazism, anti-Semitism that even leads them to attack one of their undersecretaries: Giorgia Meloni's silence until now has been deafening. From now on it becomes true assent,' writes +Europa secretary Riccardo Magi on X.

'The second part of the Fanpage investigation,' the president of the PD senators Francesco Boccia also told Sky Tg24, 'tells us that within FDI there has been no distancing from an underground world that exists, linked to extreme right-wing models and references, and that feeds the FDI youth organisation. There is not much comment to be made. The images speak for themselves. We hope that clarity will be shed quickly." "Giorgia Meloni's silence about FdI youth oozing anti-Semitism and fascism clearly says she knew. Moreover, how could she not have known? And how can we think that she would expel these characters when she herself has done nothing but speak to the belly of the worst in the country for years?" says Francesco Silvestri, M5S group leader in the Chamber.
