Equalize investigation: third line of enquiry on extortion and abusive access against Leonardo Maria Del Vecchio
New charges involve former carabiniere and private investigators for blackmail based on images illegally taken from the Milanese businessman and publisher
by Sara Monaci
The story of the espionage activity set up by the Milanese company Equalize is becoming more and more complicated, because often those who were under investigation for dossier-keeping and abusive access to databases of national importance end up being victims of the same system. Or paradoxically, he is both victim and culprit at the same time: whoever spies, is spied on in turn. And many people - starting with the founder of the company Equalize Enrico Pazzali, for whom the public prosecutor's office has requested an indictment - claim that they never knew that secret information was being used in national databases.
Now it's the turn of Leonardo Maria Del Vecchio, who was accused of illegally seeking information about his ex-girlfriend (which he always denied) but who has always claimed to have been cheated.
The Third Strand
In the closing of the second dossier, they are still among the suspects. But now there is a new development: Vincenzo De Marzio, a former Carabiniere already involved in the investigation, and Mario Cella, a former security officer, are under investigation in a third strand. The Carabinieri of the Ros of Milan accuse them, in various ways, of unauthorised access, fraud and extortion against Leonardo Maria Del Vecchio, for an affair of private images, abusively acquired, which would have been at the centre of an alleged blackmail.
This part of the investigation, which concerns De Marzio and Cella, is still coordinated by prosecutors Francesco De Tommasi and Eugenio Fusco, like the other two strands. Among the suspects are also the IT expert Nunzio Samuele Calamucci, who is also already involved in the case, and a private investigation company.
It should be noted that this strand is distinct from the other two: the first is against 13 people, for whom an indictment has already been requested; the second concerns over 70 people, for whom the investigation was closed a few days ago.
