The disappointment of the titles lost at the last corner this season was too strong. But above all, the offer from Saudi Arabia was too tempting. After four years and six trophies won, Simone Inzaghi is leaving the Inter bench. The official announcement came this afternoon. The 49-year-old coach from Piacenza has decided to accept the proposal of the Arab team Al-Hilal, which has offered him a rich salary (over 50 million dollars for two years). Inzaghi will leave for Miami as early as this weekend, where he will sign the contract, be officially presented, and start coaching the team ahead of the World Club Championship. On 18 June, the Saudis will challenge the Real Madrid of new coach Xabi Alonso.

Having arrived from Lazio in June 2021 to replace Antonio Conte, Inzaghi has won six trophies: the second-star Scudetto in 2024, two Italian Cups (2022 and 2023) and three Italian Super Cups (2022, 2023 and 2024), making him the most successful ever in the history of the competition. In addition to the Scudetto he won, Inzaghi finished runner-up twice in Serie A (2022 and 2025), fighting until the last day against AC Milan and Napoli respectively. In the 2022-2023 season he finished third behind the partenopei and Lazio. At the helm of the Nerazzurri he also reached two Champions League finals in 2023 and 2025, losing to Manchester City, 1-0 in Istanbul and Psg, 5-0 in Munich. Inzaghi coached Inter for a total of 217 matches (2.14 points average) with 141 wins, 41 draws and 35 defeats.

These are the parting words of the now former Nerazzurri coach: 'I thank the shareholders for the trust that has never been lacking, the President and his collaborators for the daily help and dialogue. On a difficult day like today, I think it is right to reiterate this sense of gratitude also for the discussion that ended just now. We were sincere and decided together to end this magnificent journey. The time has come for me to say goodbye to this club after a journey of four years, during which I have given everything. Every day I dedicated my first and last thought of the day to Inter. I have been reciprocated with professionalism and passion by players, managers and every single employee of the club. The six trophies won, including the Second Star Scudetto, together with the path to the Uefa Champions League in 2023 and just a few days ago, are tangible evidence of how much my work has been supported by a communion of intent with my staff and every member of Inter'. The Emilian coach finally dedicated "one last word to the millions of Nerazzurri fans who have cheered me on, cried and suffered in difficult moments and laughed and celebrated in the six triumphs we have experienced together. I will never forget you'.

The club entrusted president Beppe Marotta with the farewell to the former coach in a note published on the official website. "On behalf of our shareholder Oaktree and the entire club, I would like to thank Simone Inzaghi for the work he has done, for the passion he has shown and also for the sincerity in today's confrontation, which led to the common decision to part ways. Only when you have fought together to achieve success day by day can you have a frank dialogue like the one that took place today.
