Iran: Meloni says military option yields no concrete results; we are working towards a negotiated solution -2-

Direct talks between Israel and Lebanon are a fundamental part of this Middle Eastern security framework, and I think it would be excellent news if it were confirmed that the next round of negotiations were to be held in Rome. Firstly, I regard it as excellent news that the negotiations are moving forward. Secondly, I regard it as excellent news that Rome has been chosen to host these negotiations, because I believe this also demonstrates the credibility that Italia has established, earned through its engagement with all the parties involved. And this is certainly part of the credibility built up through our political stances – that is, through our ability to maintain dialogue with all parties.”

“As regards the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz, we have already said that we are prepared to lend a hand and play our part, within the framework we have repeatedly emphasised and subject to any necessary parliamentary procedures, notwithstanding – as Meloni pointed out – the latest, very bad news regarding the crisis in Iran.”
