Reuters: 'More than 12 ships passed Hormuz, also 3 sanctioned'
According to shipping data, more than a dozen oil tankers, including three sanctioned ships, crossed the Strait of Hormuz after the lifting of the 50-day blockade yesterday and before Iran reintroduced restrictions today and opened fire on some ships. Reuters writes this on its website. The ships that crossed the strait on Friday and Saturday into Iranian waters south of Larak Island were mainly older, non-Western-owned vessels and included sanctioned ships, according to ship tracking data. Iran arranged passage for a limited number of oil tankers and merchant ships following earlier agreements reached during negotiations, a spokesman for the Iranian Revolutionary Guards said. Other ships were spotted approaching the strait and then turning back, as Iran said it will maintain strict controls as long as the US continues its blockade of Iranian ports. A number of merchant ships received radio messages from the Iranian navy announcing the closure of the strait and a ban on any ships passing through, according to maritime sources today. Ship tracking data showed five ships loaded with liquefied natural gas from Ras Laffan, Qatar, approaching the strait this morning. No LNG cargoes have crossed the channel since the US-Israeli war with Iran began on 28 February. Hundreds of ships have been stranded in the Gulf since the closure of the strait.

Donald Trump 'has the right instincts about Iran and we will be the first to give him credit if Iranian concessions turn out to be real. So says the Wall Street Journal editorial board, urging a postponement of the victory parade over Iran, at least for the time being.

Custos of the Holy Land: 'Hundreds of thousands displaced in Beirut'
"In Beirut, I saw hundreds of thousands of people who were displaced. In the face of so much injustice, suffering and pain, you experience powerlessness: you want to help, that things could change, but you experience that you are not the saviour of the world. You therefore have to come to terms with powerlessness. This is not necessarily negative, it is not necessarily a problem. Perhaps it is what helps us to be even more human. One of the characteristics of St Francis is that he made limitation a point of strength'. This was said by Father Francesco Ielpo, Custos of the Holy Land, speaking by video link to 'Francesco Live', a national meeting of reflection and dialogue held in Palazzo Vecchio.
Father Ielpo recalled that 'on the way from the airport to Beirut one of the brothers told me that what mattered was being able to save even one person. This was interesting. Faced with all that we have seen, the first question is what can we do? The first thing is not to look the other way. The first big thing we can do is to inform ourselves and document ourselves, not to be satisfied with the first news that appears on social media.

US and Iran forced to peace by domestic causes

According to the Statistical Review of World Energy 2025, the Gulf contains 48% of the world's proven oil reserves; the year before it provided 31% of consumption. It also holds 40% of global natural gas reserves and supplies 23% of LNG exports. When it comes to energy, there is no region in the world that is more strategic. How was it possible to start a war here?
The question is not rhetorical. Nor is it enough to say that it is the immense wealth of the place that triggers greed and conflict, because the causes of this war are not economic: at least as far as we know, economics was an important consequence, not the motive. Israel wanted to eliminate the last great danger to its security at any price; Iran wanted to safeguard a regional power status it could no longer afford. Both acted with a presumption that others in the world were not afforded without penalty.

Tajani: Italia and China agree on free transit in Hormuz
Italia and China share the demand to 'ensure the free transit of merchant vessels' through the Strait of Hormuz. This was emphasised by Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani in an interview with Il Sole 24 Ore.
"Foreign Minister Wang Yi agrees with us on the request to guarantee the free transit of merchant ships through Hormuz: no one can claim to block international trade, no one can charge a toll," explained the head of the Italian diplomacy, "That war must be stopped with diplomacy and the latest news that is arriving gives us hope.
"I came to China because it is essential to be there," added the Farnesina incumbent, "China is an economic giant with which Italia, as an exporting country, wants to keep channels open and increasingly strong. It is an important market for our exports and for the internationalisation of companies, a fundamental part of the Farnesina's Export Plan. Having left the 'Silk Road' does not mean we have given up having solid economic relations, which remain based on the 'Strategic Partnership' signed by Berlusconi in 2004. We have different positions on some issues, but China is one of the world's two great superpowers, a protagonist with the United States in the UN Security Council, a player on the international and multilateral political scene. My visit has been very positive, both politically and economically: we have seen good openings for our companies'.
'We have long called for a rebalancing of trade between our two countries,' Tajani emphasised, 'I have seen from the Chinese side the political will to meet us on many dossiers. For example, they announced to me that the authorities are about to block other companies that use false Italian names, examples of 'Italian sounding' that exploit the distant linguistic similarity with Italian. The Chinese leadership is cooperating, they are helping us to solve many problems on trademarks'.

Lebanon: IDF, yellow line as in Gaza, no return of residents to villages
Israel will impose the so-called 'yellow line' in Lebanon, preventing residents from returning to areas occupied by the Israeli army. Cnn reports this, citing senior officials of the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF). The measure has already been used in the Gaza Strip, where the so-called 'yellow line' demarcates an area occupied by the Israeli army under the ceasefire agreement that ended the two-year war, and is inaccessible to residents. "The Gaza "yellow line" model will be replicated in Lebanon as well, and the IDF has already defined a "yellow line" within which Israeli forces are currently operating," senior IDF officials told reporters at a briefing on Saturday.
Residents will not be allowed to return to the 55 Lebanese villages within the area, IDF officials said.
"The IDF is authorised to continue destroying terrorist infrastructure in that area even during the ceasefire," they added. Some residents of southern Lebanon have started to return home following the entry into force of the ceasefire in the country.
