The agreement between the United States and Iran to end the war is due to be signed on Friday at the Bürgenstock, in the canton of Nidwalden, a few kilometres from Lucerne. The Federal Department of Foreign Affairs told AFP as much. “At this stage, the signing is scheduled for Friday 19 June at Bürgenstock,” the Swiss Foreign Ministry stated. According to Bern, the location – situated in central Switzerland, which is difficult to access and therefore easier to secure – “was proposed by the Pakistani and Qatari mediators, as well as by the United States and Iran”. Two years ago, the same venue hosted the Ukraine Peace Conference, which brought together 100 delegations, including 57 heads of state and government from all regions of the world.
