Iran: NATO clarifies that Italia has implemented existing agreements at US bases

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - "The Secretary-General emphasised that the Allies, including Italia, have implemented the existing bilateral agreements on military bases and overflights". A NATO official has thus clarified the statements made by Mark Rutte in his interview with Fox News regarding the 500 military flights that took off from a US base in Italia as part of Operation Epic Fury.

The Italian Ministry of Defence, in a statement, added that Rutte’s remarks had given rise to “misinterpretations”, whilst NATO’s clarification makes it clear that the Secretary-General’s words do not refer to “kinetic flights or flights deployed in offensive operations against Iran”.
