Israel: Eisenkot appointed to lead the government. Hormuz: three more oil tankers ablaze
Today, Israeli President Herzog will task Eisenkot with forming the new government, and the Arab party Ra’am is reportedly determined to support him, even if no coalition agreement is reached. The United List, also led by Arab parties, will not vote in favour, but will not take any action to bring down a potential government either. However, some of Eisenkot’s key allies are publicly opposed to the idea of relying on Arab parties. In the Strait of Hormuz, two more oil tankers have caught fire after striking mines.

Arab-Israeli journalist Abed Abu Shehadeh has been released
The Arab-Israeli journalist, Abed Abu Shehadeh, was released today and immediately denounced a ‘witch-hunt’ orchestrated by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to ‘delegitimise the Arab community’s vote’. ‘I have just been released after days of unjust detention. This was a politically motivated investigation, completely without foundation. A witch-hunt conducted by a security service carrying out a witch-hunt on behalf of the Prime Minister, who is seeking to intimidate us, silence us and delegitimise the very vote of the Arab community,” Abu Shehadeh told the press. Abou Shahadeh is head of the podcast department at the news website Arab48 and host of its flagship podcast, Al-Midan.

Pasdaran: ‘Three oil tankers on fire; they were on unauthorised routes’
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy has announced that, since the early hours of this morning, three oil tankers deemed ‘responsible for violations’, which were sailing along ‘unauthorised routes’ within the Strait of Hormuz, “have been hit by explosions and are now engulfed in fierce fires. The smoke from the fires has now obscured the sky above the Strait of Hormuz,” the Navy reported, according to the Fars news agency. ‘The ships caught fire as a result of their navigation and identification systems being disabled,’ it added, claiming that this was the result of ‘hostile actions by the US Armed Forces, which are engaged in smuggling and aggression’.
