Istat: consumer confidence rises to 94.5 in August, business confidence to 96.9

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - In August, an increase is estimated for both consumer confidence, which rose from 94.2 to 94.5, and the composite business confidence indicator, which rose from 95.7 to 96.9. Among consumers, there was an improvement in economic sentiment (from 90.9 to 92.3), whilst current and future sentiment recorded more modest increases (from 97.4 to 97.8 and from 89.8 to 90.2, respectively); personal confidence remains stable at 95.4. With regard to businesses, confidence has improved, albeit to varying degrees, across all sectors: the market services and construction sectors recorded the most significant increases (from 98.2 to 99.5 and from 96.8 to 102.9, respectively); in manufacturing, the indicator rose from 89.7 to 89.9, whilst in the retail sector there was a marginal increase (from 106.5 to 106.6).
