Inflation: Istat estimates no change in June, up 3% year-on-year
(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Inflation slows in June: according to Istat estimates, the national consumer price index for the entire population (NIC), excluding tobacco, recorded no change month-on-month and a rise of +3% year-on-year (down from +3.2% the previous month). The slowdown reflects price trends for unprocessed food (from +5.5% to +4.5%), recreational, cultural and personal care services (from +3% to +2.7%) and transport services (from +1.7% to +1.1%); whilst energy prices – both regulated (from +5.6% to +9.3%) and unregulated (from +12.5% to +12.9%) – accelerated. In June, core inflation – excluding energy and fresh food – fell from +1.7% to +1.6%, whilst inflation excluding energy alone fell from +2.1% to +2%. The projected inflation rate for 2026 remains at +2.6% for the overall index and rises to +1.7% for the core component.
