Ita Airways: partnership with Archer Aviation to develop air taxis in Italia

<I>(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - </I>Archer Aviation and ITA Airways, a member of the Lufthansa Group – Europe’s largest – have announced the signing of a partnership agreement to establish a network of all-electric air taxis in Italia.

Thanks to Archer’s Midnight aircraft, the partnership will aim to roll out air taxi services in major Italian cities. Designed for rapid, back-to-back, zero-emission flights, Archer’s Midnight aircraft aims to transform urban travel by replacing 60–90-minute car journeys with quiet, fully electric flights lasting 10–20 minutes. For example, a one-hour journey by road from Fiumicino Airport to the centre of Rome could take less than 10 minutes on a flight aboard the Midnight.

The Midnight has recently demonstrated its ability to operate seamlessly in complex urban airspace, completing several days of flights in the Bay Area, including numerous flights from Oakland to San Francisco’s Marina District in around 10 minutes.
