Italgas signs agreement with Nedgia: closer collaboration on gas networks and innovation

Italgas and Nedgia (Naturgy Group), Spain’s leading natural gas distribution company, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening their collaboration in areas that are strategic for the development of energy infrastructure: renewable gas, technological and digital innovation, artificial intelligence, sustainability and procurement.
The agreement was signed by Paolo Gallo, CEO of Italgas, and Raúl Suárez Álvarez, CEO of Nedgia, and confirms the two companies’ commitment to embarking on a structured process of dialogue and knowledge-sharing on some of the key challenges facing the gas sector in Europe. In a context characterised by the acceleration of decarbonisation targets and the growing importance of energy infrastructure for the security and competitiveness of the system, collaboration between industry players is a key driver for optimising existing networks, facilitating the integration of renewable gases and developing technological solutions capable of making the service increasingly digital, efficient and sustainable.

Alvarez: gas networks are key to the energy transition
“This agreement provides a valuable framework for strengthening knowledge-sharing, innovation and cooperation between two of Europe’s leading gas distribution operators,” explained Raúl Suárez Álvarez, Chief Executive of Nedgia. “ Gas networks have a crucial role to play in the energy transition, particularly by enabling the integration of green gases such as biomethane into existing infrastructure. Together with Italgas, we want to help accelerate solutions that support decarbonisation and contribute to a more sustainable, secure and efficient European energy system.”
Onori: shared challenges for Italia and Spain on energy security and the energy transition
