The Italian cosmetics industry looks to the future from Bergamo
On 21 and 22 October, the third edition of Beauty to Business and the ninth edition of Polo Innovation Day
This sector, which brings together industry, research, technology, creativity and export capacity, will be gathering at the Bergamo Exhibition Centre on 21 and 22 October for the Beauty to Business Summit and Polo Innovation Day. These two events are back to bring together the Italian and international cosmetics supply chain through an exclusively B2B format, featuring exhibitions, conferences and tailored meetings between companies and industry professionals.
The initiative, organised by Promoberg in collaboration with the Cosmetics Cluster, marks a significant milestone this year: the Beauty to Business Summit is now in its third edition, whilst the Polo Innovation Day is in its ninth year, consolidating the process of integration between the two events. Further bolstering their prospects for growth is Beauty to Business’s entry into the international Cosmoprof network, following the acquisition of a 70 per cent stake by BolognaFiere Cosmoprof.
This development brings to Bergamo a reflection on the present and future of a strategic supply chain for the Italian manufacturing sector, in a region of particular significance to the industry. Northern Italy is home to over 50 per cent of the country’s cosmetics companies, and Lombardy lies at the heart of the so-called Cosmetic Valley, an area encompassing the Lombard quadrilateral between Bergamo, Crema, Milan, Lodi and Brianza. It is against this backdrop that Bergamo presents itself as a meeting point for businesses and operators within the sector, thanks in part to the location of the exhibition centre on Via Lunga, which is easily accessible via the motorway network, the ‘Il Caravaggio’ international airport at Orio al Serio and the railway station.
“With the acquisition of Beauty to Business by BolognaFiere Cosmoprof, the organiser of Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna and Cosmoprof-branded events worldwide, we aim to embark on a new path for the development of the cosmetics supply chain,” explains Enrico Zannini, Managing Director of BolognaFiere Cosmoprof. “ The aim is to create synergies to offer the best growth opportunities to companies in the Italian supply chain, combining the flexibility and focus on the local area typical of Beauty to Business with the global business reach of the events in the Cosmoprof network. Whilst retaining the distinctive features of the Beauty to Business Summit – the event’s sector-specific focus, the accessibility of the format and the provision of highly sector-specific content – the involvement of BolognaFiere Cosmoprof will enable us to offer new services and business solutions to increase the engagement of buyers, brand owners, contract manufacturers, and suppliers of ingredients, packaging and technologies.”
Antonia Benvegnù, Head of Sales for Cosmopack Bologna, Asia and the Americas at BolognaFiere Cosmoprof, adds: ‘Thanks to Cosmopack, a key asset of Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna, we have for years been helping supply chain companies around the world to establish new business relationships, build new partnerships and maximise opportunities to meet potential customers. Beauty To Business enables us to contribute to the growth of the sector, with a particular focus on Italian companies – especially those in Lombardy’s Cosmetic Valley – through a strategic format tailored to an industry that continues to stand out for its dynamism, innovation and ability to expand into new markets. In a highly competitive and challenging market, with an unstable global landscape and the changes brought about by new technologies and evolving consumer habits, the Bergamo event offers a further opportunity to facilitate dialogue between companies, evaluate new solutions for the industry and create synergies.”
