Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba was confirmed in a parliamentary vote but will have to govern without an absolute majority, following the debacle he suffered in the last legislative elections.
Ishiba won 221 votes in the second round against Yoshihiko Noda, leader of the main opposition party, the Constitutional Democratic Party, who received 160 votes.
