Jeep on the eve of a year, 2025, full of novelties, with the new Compass in particular, confirms the strategic centrality of Italy. Italy, in fact, is a producer country with 47 per cent of cars sold outside its borders. But it is also the third largest market in the world in terms of units sold, 70,000 deliveries at the end of 2024 for a share of 4.4%, given that it has secured a good share of the 123,000 registrations at European level, up by 2% at the end of 2024 compared to 2023, 50% of which are destined for private buyers.
The Avenger, the compact SUV offered in petrol, electric and hybrid versions, plays a central role in the good performance of 2024. As many as 135 orders since launch, of which 80,000 accounted for this year, half go to the internal combustion engine and the other 50% are split between hybrid, 35%, and electric 15%. Avenger is the best-selling SUV in Italy and in the top 5 among electrics, a trend that will be reinforced in 2025 with the 4xe version with electric all-wheel drive, arriving in April in the wake of the success of the special North Face Edition variant.
But central to Jeep's product offensive will be the launch of the new Compass to be unveiled on 18 March. It is one of the most anticipated models coming in 2025 for the Stellantis. Built on the STLA medium platform, it will be one of five models produced at the Melfi plant along with the new Lancia Gamma and the DS No. 8 electric flagship. The new generation of the medium SUV will be 15 cm longer than the current version.
The line will be more streamlined and sporty. As for the engine range, which promises to be quite extensive, internal combustion, light hybrid, plug-in and 100% electric units with a range of up to 650 km are envisaged. The styling of the new Compass will echo the family feeling of recent models introduced by the Jeep brand and will therefore be characterised by head and muscular lines. After the Avenger, the new Compass will be the second model for the brand's growth in Europe.
Of the other launches planned for 2025, there is also anticipation for the Recon electric off-roader, which goes on sale in early 2026. Modelled on the base of the Wrangler but offered only 100% battery-powered and with an authentic Jeep DNA, complete with removable doors for full contact with nature. Still on the subject of pure electric, the Wagoneer S, the fastest and also the highest performing Jeep ever, is scheduled to arrive at the end of next year, and will immediately put the world's leading electric brand, Tesla, in its sights.
