Jeep is relaunching the Cherokee. The mid-size SUV, now in its sixth generation, is produced in Mexico, but will only be offered in the USA for the time being, and therefore should not be exported to Europe, where Jeep prefers to focus on the new Compass and more compact electrified models. The Cherokee, model year 2026, is based on the STLA Large platform of the Stellantis group: it is 478 cm long, 22 more than the Compass, 212 cm wide, including mirrors, and 171 cm high, with a wheelbase of 287 cm. The boot is 30 per cent higher than the model it will replace.
Squarish style and more traditional interior
.
The styling of the new Cherokke is boxy and echoes much of the American manufacturer's recent models, including the Compass. The front end is very vertical and there are rectangular headlights. The cabin is well made and traditional in layout, with two screens: the dashboard is 10.25 inches and the multimedia system 12.3 inches. The main functions are managed from the central monitor, while the door opening handles are replaced by digital controls. No more leather in the upholstery replaced by vinyl and other recycled materials.
