Ceramics is a flagship of Made in Italy, known and admired all over the world for its style, design and quality. The hundreds of member companies of Confindustria Ceramica stand out for their cutting-edge 4.0 technologies and for the excellence of their production, which is carried out according to criteria of eco-sustainability and respect for labour. This supremacy, however, must be tenaciously defended and the best way is to capture the attention of young talents in order to direct them towards stable and lasting employment in the national ceramic industry. With this objective in mind, the next edition of Cersaie 2024, the International Exhibition of Ceramic Tile and Bathroom Furnishings (at Bologna Fiere from tomorrow to 27 September), will dedicate ample space to training and job orientation.
This year there is an absolute novelty: on Thursday 26 and Friday 27 September there will be Career days, during which 26 exhibiting companies will meet students. On the first day, starting at 10 a.m., the protagonists will be undergraduates and graduates. The event is promoted by Confindustria Ceramica, organised by Edicer in cooperation with AlmaLaurea and BolognaFiere with the support of the University of Bologna (Unibo), the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (Unimore) and the University of Ferrara. On Friday 27 it will be the turn of high school graduates with whom Confindustria Ceramica has signed cooperation agreements.
The organisers have high hopes for this two-day event, because it will give companies traditionally focused on production the opportunity to open up to the world of students, present their excellence and explain why working in this sector could be a winning choice for many young people. It will also be important for companies to listen to the expectations and wishes of their young interlocutors. The fact that it is Cersaie that is hosting the Career days will allow young people to observe closely, and in many cases to touch, the peculiarities of a sector that the whole world envies us. Over the past six years, the ceramic tile industry has invested 2.2 billion euros in technological innovation to create Fabbrica Ceramica 4.0 and now companies need to recruit professional figures with multidisciplinary skills capable of governing increasingly complex industrial processes. Confindustria Ceramica is well aware of this: this is demonstrated by the 2nd Level Master's Degree Course in Ceramic Business and Technology, now in its fourth edition, created in collaboration with Unibo and Unimore. The Master's course aims to train the future managers of a key sector in terms of dynamism and innovation. The course is designed for recent graduates, particularly in engineering, physics, chemistry, earth sciences, architecture and design, and for professionals with a solid background.
