Josh Safdie ('Marty Supreme')

After films directed with his brother Benny ('Rough Diamonds' being the best), Josh gets his first nomination as Best Director for his solo effort with 'Marty Supreme', an already cult film that aims to win its star Timothée Chalamet as Best Actor. Winning an Oscar is practically impossible, but being in the five-part shortlist is a fitting tribute to one of the most interesting new directors on the star-studded film scene.
