'Just transition fund', remodelled part of the 367 million funds for Sulcis
25 million goes to social housing, 44 to energy and business, 35 to retraining and job placement, 89.5 million to support transition and diversification of the local economy
From environmental reclamation to accessible and sustainable living, via industrial and energy transition. The Sardinia Regional Authority has given the go-ahead for the remodulation of a portion of the resources from the Jtf, the Just transition fund, a European programme worth a billion euros in all andallocated to Sulcis 367 million euros. Resources for reconversion interventions in the entire territory and in the 23 municipalities.
After a stalemate, the notices for the submission of proposals and projects have started. And now the process is moving forward. "There has been a change of pace for some time now,' says Emanuele Cani, Regional Councillor for Industry, 'and we have succeeded in committing all the resources and this is a considerable step forward, now we must continue with the grounding of the various initiatives.
The reshuffling of resources, funds left over from a number of calls for proposals that received few proposals, provides for the allocation of 25 million euro for projects relating to the 'Enhancement and redevelopment of accessible and sustainable housing (Sulcis Iglesiente)', the so-called social housing. One of the sectors that has travelled swiftly is business and energy transition.
An area worth €44 million, ranging from promoting the use of renewable energies (€36.034 million), to incentives for SMEs to improve energy performance (€3.4 million), to the implementation of intelligent energy distribution and storage systems (€4.5 million).
An additional EUR 35 million goes to projects concerning 'support for up-skilling and re-skilling paths for unemployed, unemployed and workers at risk due to transition; investments in technical training and higher education'. Furthermore, 'strengthening of services for job search and new business creation; active inclusion of job seekers'. And 'services for reconciling work and family to raise activity rates'. To these are added projects, funded to the tune of EUR 21 million, ranging from the strengthening of services for job search and new business creation to the active inclusion of job seekers.
