The first ad of the 2024 presidential campaign of Vice President Kamala Harris, now running for the White House after the retirement of President Joe Biden, is accompanied by Beyoncé's "Freedom," a track from her 2016 album, "Lemonade."
"We choose freedom," Harris says in the video, as Beyoncé's powerful refrain resounds: "Freedom! Freedom! I can't move. Freedom, cut me loose! Yeah."
Harris also used 'Freedom' during her first official public appearance as a presidential candidate at her campaign headquarters in Delaware on Monday, and again on Tuesday at the beginning and end of her rally in Milwaukee. Experts say the song has several meanings and is an excellent attempt to attract the youth vote.
Thanksgiving to Joe Biden
Harris, speaking this morning in Houston, Texas, before an audience of school trade unionists, opened his speech by thanking President Joe Biden. 'Last night,' he said, 'our president addressed the nation. And he showed once again what true leadership is." "He thinks and talks about his job," Harris continued, "understanding what it means for what we do now and how that will impact the future. Think about our history in the context of the importance of the work we do now and in the future. Over the past three and a half years and throughout his career, Joe has led with grace and strength, bold vision and deep compassion," he concluded.
Ready for debate with Donald Trump
Harris said she was 'ready' for a debate with Donald Trump. And she accused the rival of 'backtracking' after questioning the previous agreement on debates. With Joe Biden the Trump campaign agreed to a face-to-face on Abc on 10 September, but now the former president has asked for the debate to be moved to Fox.
