Katie Zacharia, aged 42, is the new White House spokesperson
Zacharia replaces Karoline Leavitt
Katie Zacharia is the new White House spokesperson. She was born on 23 March 1984.
The reports in the New York Times and the Guardian were confirmed on the evening (Italian time) by President Donald Trump: ‘She has already worked on my election campaigns, making a valuable contribution in key swing states. She has been a loyal and brilliant supporter right from the start. She is also a staunch supporter and an integral part of the ‘Make America Great Again’ movement,” added Trump, saying he was “certain that Katie will achieve excellent results for the country in her role as the next White House press secretary, earning the respect of the media, the American people and my administration”.
Zacharia worked for around three months at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in early 2026, before Markwayne Mullin became its secretary. She is said to have been close to Kristi Noem, who preceded Mullin. She is currently a communications adviser to the Trump Media and Technology Group.
Zacharia replaces Karoline Leavitt, who stepped down from her post at the end of August after becoming a mother for the second time.
Leavitt has taken up a role with the pro-Trump Super PAC (political action committee, – Ed. ) and this week was appointed as the new Fox News commentator.
