Kenya: Italian tourist on holiday with her family dies

A head-on collision with a lorry in Kenya claimed the life of an Italian tourist, Sidney Serpetri, a 52-year-old woman from Florence.

According to initial reports provided to ANSA, the woman was travelling with her husband and son from Mombasa to Malindi.

The collision with the vehicle travelling in the opposite lane proved fatal. The Kenyan driver also died alongside the woman, whilst her husband and son, who have been admitted to hospital in Mombasa, are reportedly not in a serious condition.

The Italian Embassy in Nairobi took immediate action to provide all necessary assistance and is monitoring the situation, liaising with the family and the hospital where the two Italian nationals are being treated.
