Fibre Net, with Kerakoll in Udine: the centre for structural reinforcement

The aim is to make Udine the technological, manufacturing and cultural hub of the structural restoration and reinforcement sector. Fibre Net – founded in 2001 in Udine, operating in the civil engineering sector, with a specialised range of systems and materials for structural reinforcement, consolidation and seismic retrofitting of buildings and infrastructure, as well as solutions for the industrial sector – has acquired a new production facility set to become the Group’s European Centre of Excellence for structural reinforcement.

With 25 years’ specialisation in the sector, the company has been part of the Kerakoll Group since April 2026: the new site, covering over 22,000 square metres, forms a natural extension of the existing premises in the Udine Industrial Estate and represents an investment in support of a long-term industrial vision, propelling the Friuli-based company – which is already undertaking the structural reinforcement of the Terrazza sul Mare in Lignano, as well as projects carried out as part of post-earthquake reconstruction, the reinforcement of listed buildings such as the Sagrada Familia and the Pinacoteca di Siena, and the restoration of major infrastructure projects, including the Molise 2 viaduct – towards a new phase of international development. The project involves the development of an integrated hub that brings together advanced production facilities, research and development laboratories, and spaces dedicated to technical training on a single site.

This sector is driven by the growing need to preserve, refurbish and make buildings and infrastructure safe: in Italia alone, by 2026, almost 68 per cent of investment in construction will be allocated to the restoration and refurbishment of existing buildings, whilst investment in major maintenance will reach 161.5 billion euros. The appointment of Lorenzo Melegari as the new CEO of Fibre Net Group has also been announced; he will be responsible for leading the business plan, combining the expertise developed by Fibre Net with Kerakoll’s industrial strength and global presence, thereby fostering positive synergy between the two organisations. “The strategic decision is to make Udine the European centre of excellence for the structural reinforcement of the built environment, through the development and production of highly innovative products and systems,” comments Andrea Zampa, founder and Director of R&D, Technical Department and Operations at Fibre Net Group. The Centre of Excellence will integrate production, research, testing and training activities.
