Kering Eyewear buys Lenses from Safilo

The company founded in 1996 by entrepreneur Marco Negri produces sunglass lenses, helmet visors and headlamps for the automotive industry

Kering Eyewear announces the acquisition of Italian sunglass, helmet visor and headlamp manufacturer Lenti, adding further production capacity to its industrial footprint. The company founded in 1996 by entrepreneur Marco Negri is Safilo, which has been creating, manufacturing and distributing sunglasses, optical frames, helmets, goggles and outdoor eyewear for over 90 years.

The two companies did not disclose the amount of the transaction. The stock Safilo Group on the Italian Stock Exchange gained more than 2.5 per cent, with a negative balance since the start of the year of 3.75 per cent. Kering shares in Paris are in slightly positive territory, but have given up more than 24% since 1 January 2025.

Lenti ended the 2024 financial year with revenues of EUR 16.9 million, down from EUR 18.8 million in the previous year. In terms of profitability, the Bergamo-based company reported a 2024 pre-tax profit of around 2 million, down 3.2 million from 2023, and a net profit of 1.4 million (2.4 million in 2023), according to Cerved data.

Lenti, located in the province of Bergamo, employs around 100 people and specialises in moulding and surface treatment to safeguard and improve vision in various fields of application, including lenses for sunglasses, visors and other protective components for lighting and for the automotive and motorbike industries.
