Kia XCeed: changes look, is more connected and comfortable
The mid-size crossover gets a makeover outside and inside, offering Adas and digitisation of the brand's latest models. The update also raises comfort and driveability levels. New range confirms reliance on petrol and mild hybrid engines
Key points
In the mid-size model segment, Kia is relaunching the XCeed crossover, updating it extensively to bring it in line stylistically and technologically with the latest models. The refreshed XCeed will be sold from the summer with the latest petrol and electrified engines with which the previous series was offered in the final months of marketing.
Kia XCeed, how it changes outside and inside
The styling revision of the XCeed affects the front and rear. In particular, at the front, the design of the bonnet, the bumper shield that incorporates a new radiator grille and air intake, the mudguards and the light clusters that are now vertical have changed, while at the rear the tailgate, the bumper shield and the light signature that extends to the full width have been redesigned. The redesigned outfit is complemented by new 18-inch alloy wheels.
The brand's current stylistic course also changes the appearance of the interior. The new dashboard design and solutions that improve perceived quality combine with an upgrade in digitalisation. The latter brings on board the maxi-screen by Kia formed by the two 12.3" displays of the instrumentation and the always-connected infotainment system that also offers mirroring for smartphones, access to cloud-based services, diagnostics and, when integrated by the Kia app, remote access and control of the car as well as the Digital Key for multi-user use. Finally, as on the latest Kia models, the cabin of the new XCeed features a touchbar in the centre of the dashboard that switches between on-board service controls and multimedia system functions, as well as wireless charging for smartphones.
Kia XCeed, new driver assistance systems
The XCeed offers more driving and parking assistance features. The former now include Level 2 semi-assisted driving Adas, the system that eliminates the blind spot in the rear view mirrors and intervenes on steering and brakes if necessary, along with the system that detects approaching vehicles in reverse and activates emergency braking if necessary. It also offers, among others, the camera that detects distractions or signs of driver fatigue to support appropriate driving responses and the system that detects cars, motorbikes, pedestrians and cyclists.
Kia XCeed, driving and ride comfort improvements
The technological update also concerns the recalibration of the parameters of the Normal and Sport car configurations to obtain a greater differentiation of the responses offered by the two modes. It also affected both the rear suspension settings to optimise handling and absorption of road bumps and the insulation to keep noise and hiss out of the cabin.
