Zelensky: 'Washington proposed US-Russia-Ukraine meeting in Miami'

Only the United States can convince Russia to end the war in Ukraine. This is the conviction reiterated by President Volodymyr Zelensky, who spoke to reporters in Kiev. "I believe that this force exists in the United States and in President Donald Trump," he said, "And I believe that we should not look for alternatives to the United States. All alternatives are questionable as it is not certain that they would be able to do it'.

What will we be able to count on? What package of sanctions will be simultaneously imposed on the aggressor?". All these questions, according to the president, must be answered with an agreement that is "fair and effective".

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Washington had proposed a meeting between the US, Ukraine and Russia in Miami. "As I understand it, they proposed this format: Ukraine, America, Russia," Zelensky said, adding that the Europeans could be present and that it would be "logical to hold a joint meeting... after understanding the potential results of the meeting that has already taken place."

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will join today's talks in Miami between US negotiators and the Russian delegation to find a solution to the conflict in Ukraine. RBC-Ukraine writes this, citing Reuters.

The death toll in Ukraine rises to at least nine from the raids launched by the Russians yesterday. In addition to the eight dead and 27 wounded in Odessa, another person was killed in Donetsk and 20 others were hit by the attacks. This was reported by local authorities, quoted by the Kyiv Independent. In the Donetsk region, according to Governor Vadym Filashkin, bombs killed one person in the village of Manky and injured two others. Ten people were injured in the Zaporizhzhia region, Governor Ivan Fedorov reported. Eight others, including two children, were hit in the Kherson region, Governor Oleksandr Prokudin pointed out. During the night, Russian forces also attacked electricity production, distribution and transmission facilities in the Mykolaiv, Kherson, Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions, as reported by the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine. "As a result of the Russian attacks, citizens of Mykolaiv, Kherson, Donetsk and Odessa regions were left without electricity this morning," the report reads.

Portuguese Prime Minister Luis Montenegro arrived in Kiev for his first official visit to Ukraine. In the Ukrainian capital Montenegro was welcomed by President Volodymyr Zelensky, with whom he laid a wreath at the war memorial.

"Today, together with the Prime Minister of Portugal, Luiz Montenegro, we honoured the memory of our fallen soldiers. Eternal memory to all our soldiers, to every Ukrainian who gave his life so that Ukraine could live,' Zelensky wrote on X.

Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian delegation, will meet President Donald Trump's envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner today in Miami, US, according to a US official. The official spoke on condition of anonymity in anticipation of a meeting that has not yet been publicly announced. The official added that Witkoff and Kushner will meet with Dmitriev after meeting with Ukrainian and European officials in Berlin, Germany, to discuss US security guarantees for Kiev, territorial concessions, and other aspects of the plan drawn up by the Americans.

The Ukrainian Security Service Sbu said that the Russian military airport in Belbek, in occupied Crimea, was attacked with drones and two Su-27 fighters were hit. "One of the planes was on the taxiway with ammunition and was ready for a combat flight. It was destroyed," the Sbu claimed on Telegram. US intelligence reports continue to warn that Russian President Vladimir Putin intends to take over the whole of Ukraine and reclaim parts of Europe that belonged to the former Soviet empire. Russia is ready to attack the Baltic States in 2027 and 'occupy them': this was said by Kirill Budanov, head of the Ukrainian military intelligence service (Gur), quoted by Kiev media. "The original plan was for Russia to be ready to start operations in 2030. Now the plans have been revised updated to 2027," he said during an interview, adding that Moscow's goal "is to occupy these countries".

The Ukrainian Air Defence Forces destroyed 31 of the 51 drones used by the Russians to attack Ukraine overnight. This was stated by the Kiev Air Force quoted by Ukrinform. According to reports, the Russians attacked with three Iskander-M ballistic missiles from occupied Crimea, as well as 51 Shahed, Herbera and other types of drones. According to preliminary data, up to this morning the Air Defence Forces have shot down/suppressed 31 drones in the north, south and east of Ukraine. Russian President Vladimir Putin's envoy for the negotiations on Ukraine, Kirill Dmitriev, is 'en route to Miami', where he will meet today with the US president's special envoy, Steve Witkoff, and Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, who are in charge of monitoring the peace plan negotiations. Dmitriev himself writes this on X, posting a short video shot during a previous mission to Florida.

"As the warmongers continue to work overtime to undermine the US peace plan for Ukraine, I remembered this video from my previous visit: light breaking through storm clouds," Dmitriev writes.

The toll of last night's Russian missile attack on a port facility in the Odessa district has risen to eight dead and 27 wounded. This was reported on Facebook by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
