The LAST MEAL THAT IMPRESSED ME Tough choice, in my family we are all passionate about cooking! I love the work of the Greek restaurant Linou Soumpasis & Co in Athens, it is modern and innovative. Mory Sacko, in Paris, is incredible at reinterpreting African flavours and offers very identity-based cuisine. And then chef Daniel Humm at Eleven Madison Park in New York: for me he is the hero who has put vegetables at the centre, with a perfect vegan direction, even if he has recently decided to introduce some animal products again so that everyone feels welcome at the table (vegan tasting menu $335 per person, without drinks, taxes and service,elevenmadisonpark.com; linousoumpasis.gr; mory-sacko.com).

A RECENT DISCOVERY The sculpture of a lion's head by a young Versailles-born artist, Guillaume Campredon: it has a friendly air and is carved in limestone in an almost mythological style. I bought it at the Parisian auction house Piasa (€2,340, piasa.fr).

ACCESSORY THAT I CONSIDER A REAL WORK OF ART An ancient Greek bronze coin with the effigy of Hera transformed into a gold and silver necklace by Maison Auclert. My NEXT PROJECTS I am working with my team on a book about the Kisawa Sanctuary. It is a beautiful journey and will be published by Rizzoli by the end of the year. Not only that: in 2017 I founded a non-profit marine research centre, the Bazaruto Center for Scientific Studies. We study the movements of the ocean with a team of scientists and we welcome volunteers from all over the world to know and understand the seabed better. The MOST BEAUTIFUL GIFT MADE Lately A trip to Chile, for my husband, but we have yet to leave. We want to discover the Atacama desert, interact with the local cultures and hopefully visit the space observatory. We will then travel to the mountain peaks of Torres del Paine, our dream. Perhaps we will have time to go horseback riding, swim in the lakes and picnic on the great grassy plains. We have spent a lot of time in Africa and the next great frontier for us still unexplored is South America, a vast and magical continent in terms of nature and wild spaces (eco-luxury travel in Chile: from Patagonia to the Atacama Desert with Santiago de Chile, the vineyards of the Central Valley and Valparaíso, 11 days, 8.640 euros per person, ruta40.co.uk).

If I HAD TO LIMIT SHOPPING TO ONE DISTRICT OF A CITY, I WOULD CHOOSE Omotesandō, in Tokyo, for the energy it exudes. Most of the shops have been designed by famous architects, such as Tadao Ando, and the area is full of interesting Japanese designers, cafes, restaurants, museums - among my favourites is Kengo Kuma's Nezu (nezu-muse.or.jp), while on the boutique front for shoes I love Visvim, and for fashion Kolor and Undercover. And at Issey Miyake's in Aoyama, a stone's throw from Omotesandō, an experimental shop has also opened, Reality Lab, inspired by the functional design of a clinical laboratory. For lunch, the Sasha Kanetanaka by Hiroshi Sugimoto (two-course menu, about 60 euros, kanetanaka.co.jp).

A PLEASURE I WOULD NEVER GIVE UP A rosewater perfume. I had bought it years ago in a small shop in a narrow street in Rome. Today the brand no longer exists and I have few bottles left, when they run out I will go in search of something pleasant and olfactively similar.

If I DID NOT LIVE WHERE I LIVE I would divide my time between New York, Paris and Rome, with a permanent home in Greece. Too difficult to choose just one city...

If I DIDN'T DO WHAT I DO I would be a set designer for films or work alongside journalist Grace Coddington. My passion would always be to create visual narratives that can inspire people in the most diverse ways. The possibilities, when it comes to storytelling, are endless!
