Moscow denies Trump: no confirmation from New Delhi on halt to Russian oil imports
Moscow's note comes after US President Donald Trump announced on Monday his intention to reduce tariffs on India from 25 per cent to 18 per cent following Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's decision to forego Russian oil imports
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that 'Moscow has not yet received any communication from New Delhi regarding the refusal to buy Russian oil. This was reported by the Ria Novosti news agency.
The note comes after US President Donald Trump had announced on Monday his intention to reduce tariffs on India from 25 per cent to 18 per cent following Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's decision to forego Russian oil imports.
Moscow, however, made it known that it had not yet received any statement from New Delhi on its refusal to buy Russian oil. "We have not yet received any statement from Delhi on this issue," Peskov told reporters.
Russia respects the relationship between India and the United States, but attaches no less importance to developing a strategic partnership with India, the senior Russian official explained.
New Delhi: will communicate agreement details after signing
For New Delhi, the Commerce Minister spoke. India and the US will soon issue a joint statement on their trade agreement and share the details of the agreement after the signing of a 'final understanding' and the completion of technical procedures, Indian Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal said.
