In this part of summer, important tourist destinations present their historical events: we recently saw Stresa, this week it is Rimini and Merano. In the former, in a Teatro Galli reopened a few years ago, here is one of Europe's most famous ensembles to open the symphonic programme of a Sagra Malatestiana now in its 75th edition. In the second, in a packed programme that also includes chamber and early music, here is one of London's leading ensembles. Strong change in Verona where in the Arena the opera for a day gives way to an immersive show dedicated to a symbol such as Vivaldi's Four Seasons.
Rimini
On 1 at the Teatro Galli a major orchestra, that of the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, conductor Chung, pianist Schiff, opens the 75th Sagra Malatestiana, which continues until 15 December. The numerous concerts include the S. Cecilia Orchestra, conductor Noseda, with pianists Lisiecki and Piemontesi on 17 September.
The special section of the Festival, "Percuotere la Mente", continues on 3 September at the Corte degli Agostiniani, with John De Leo and his instrument voice crossing all the colours of the vocal palette, in a vocal and musical experimentation between contemporary, rock and soul, here together with the Grande Abarasse Orchestra. This section concludes on 22 November at the Teatro Galli with Teho Teardo and Blixa Bargeld, between lyrical tones and extreme sounds, in a fusion of classical, electronic and rock.
Merano (BZ)
.Until 23 September, the 39th Südtirol Festival Merano takes place, ranging from classical and baroque to jazz to world music, chamber music and films. Upcoming concerts include on the 5th at the Kursaal the Philharmonia Orchestra of London, conductor Daniele Rustioni, with pianist Yulianna Avdeeva; and on the 12th the Dresden Staatskapelle with its conductor Daniele Gatti and pianist Rudolf Buchbinder.
Verona
On the 28th at the Arena di Verona "Viva Vivaldi. The Four Seasons Immersive Concert". The violin of Giovanni Andrea Zanon, with the Arena Orchestra, gives life to a new show, with three-dimensional projections, created by the Balich Wonder Studio, well known for the Olympic Ceremonies and large-scale shows from Rio 2016 to the World Cup in Qatar in 2022. We think of the immersive show they produced as the 2018 Sistine Chapel show, box-office hit and in collaboration with the Vatican Museums; and we look forward to this new way of presenting the classical concert.
