Lazio Region: schools – green light for the 2027–2028 school reorganisation plan
Councillor Calvi: a measure that recognises excellence. Comprehensive modernisation of the local school provision whilst retaining the existing school sites
The Lazio Regional Executive has approved the plan for the reorganisation of educational institutions for the 2027–28 academic year. The plan is the result of a complex process which, starting from the guidelines drawn up by the Lazio Region, involves the analysis of proposals put forward by the Provinces and the Metropolitan City of Rome, together with the relevant opinion of the Regional Education Office, within the framework of the Permanent Regional Conference on Education.
Comprehensive regeneration: the institutions involved
The Region has therefore carried out a comprehensive reorganisation of the local school provision, whilst retaining the existing school sites. Among other measures, in the province of Latina, the school complexes of the former Mattei Institute – which currently belong to the I.I.S. San Benedetto – Einaudi – Mattei – have been merged into the I.I.S. Galilei – Sani.
Latina
Furthermore, the associated branch of CPIA 9 in Latina has been established at the Leone Caetani Comprehensive School in Cisterna di Latina, and a registration code has been allocated to the Latina prison campus for the Audiovisual and Multimedia course (two-year and three-year programmes). At the I.I.S. E. Fermi – Filangieri in Formia, the Healthcare Biotechnology programme has been launched, whilst at the Ipseoa Celletti in Gaeta, the Level II adult education programme – specialising in Industry and Craftsmanship for ‘Made in Italy’ – Tailored Textile Production has been introduced. In the province of Rieti, the L. Rocci Classical and Scientific High School, in the municipality of Fara in Sabina, has launched the Humanities High School with an economic and social specialisation.
Metropolitan City and Province of Rome
In the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital and in the province of Rome, the ‘Liceo del Made in Italy’ has been launched at the V. Arangio Ruiz Institute and at the Ugo Tognazzi Institute in Velletri, and a new C.P.I.A. 2 centre has been established – Italo Calvino in the Tor Bella Monaca neighbourhood, on the premises of the school in Via dell’Archeologia, which is part of the I.C. Melissa Bassi.
Viterbo
In the province of Viterbo, the Healthcare Biotechnology course has been launched at the L. Da Vinci Comprehensive Institute. Furthermore, following the decision adopted by the Permanent Regional Conference on Education, the possible launch of the Chemistry, Materials and Biotechnology course at the L. Da Vinci Integrated Secondary School in Sora has been postponed until the next academic year. As regards the lower secondary school network in the Province of Rieti, the reorganisation of this network has been deferred pending a possible supplementary measure, in compliance with the ruling of the Council of State which annulled the 2024/25 Regional Plan for the Restructuring of Educational Institutions (Regional Council Decision 5/2024) in the part where it provided for the merger of the ‘Antonio Malfatti’ Comprehensive School in Contigliano with the Comprehensive School in Montasola.
