In a video that lasted almost half an hour, Lazio owner Claudio Lotito presented the pre-feasibility study for the renovation of the Flaminio stadium (north area of the city) yesterday at the Campidoglio, in front of (among others) mayor Roberto Gualtieri, to make it the new temple of his football team. In these hours, the official request for the project should be registered at the City Hall, thus starting the process.

The Flaminio redevelopment project

"They have appreciated the work we have done, which highlights Lazio's desire to redevelop the Flaminio stadium by safeguarding its architectural value but above all the area in which the facility is located," said Lotito as he left the meeting. "We are not just making the stadium for Lazio," he added, "but for the city of Rome, which will be used by Lazio by upgrading it in terms of viability, acoustics, greenery and initiatives for the people who live in the quadrant for an investment of around 400 million euros". Lazio's intention, he pointed out, is to do "everything to speed up the timetable, but it will probably take no less than three years to complete. Now there is a bureaucratic process to be respected, we will go ahead in steps".

Mobility and Noise Pollution

.

Currently the Flaminio's capacity is under 25,000. The objective would be to increase it to 45-50 thousand (there is the hypothesis of a second raised ring). There is also the option of a noise cover. The nodes of noise pollution and mobility will be the central points to be clarified during the project process, given that the facility is located in the middle of the city centre. The new stadium will provide for the closure of the 'ZTL zones during matches,' Lotito clarified, 'and there will be a shuttle bus to enable people from outside Rome to enter the stadium. And it will be a pedestrian zone'.

Municipality: Project to be examined

.

"It went well. A good project. It will have to be examined in detail, but we are happy," commented Gualtieri. An 'interesting' project, Maurizio Veloccia, Rome's town planning councillor, described it: 'During the application process we will better understand how the mobility and soundproofing issues will be resolved,' he added.
