Tax cuts for middle income earners. Pruning of tax expenditures. And the arrival of the Befana bonus in December, worth 100 euro net. These are some of the most important novelties, announced by the Deputy Minister for the Economy, Maurizio Leo during his speech at Speciale Telefisco. The traditional conference of the Sole 24 Ore and the Esperto Risponde saw his participation, along with that of the director of the Agenzia delle Entrate, Ernesto Maria Ruffini and the president of the commercialists, Elbano de Nuccio.
'The Omnibus decree will come into force on 1 January,' Leo explained, 'but we have managed to anticipate the Befana bonus to December 2024 thanks to the fact that revenues are going well. Thanks to this revenue we are aiming for a bonus of EUR 100 net without taxation'. As for the reduction of the tax burden,' he continued, 'the middle class is an issue that is particularly close to our hearts, we will have to find the resources, which can range from 2.5 to 4 billion, depending on where the bar is set.
And again: 'We know that taxpayers with an income between 28 and 50 thousand euro today have a tax rate of 35 per cent. The objective, if, as I repeat, the resources are found, is to raise it to 33 per cent, maybe push it a little further for those in the third bracket, that of 43 per cent, and raise it up to 60 thousand euro, then take 10 thousand from the third bracket and place them on 33 per cent. But all with the prudence of the case, it is all to be seen on the basis of the resources that will be found'.
Whereas,' Leo continued, 'for deductions, deductions and tax credits, today we have a system that is a sort of crazy mayonnaise: 625 tax expenditures, including deductions, deductions and tax credits'. So, 'without creating problems on certain sectors that are close to our hearts, I am thinking of health and education, on those deductions no invasive intervention will be made, we want to do, reasonably, a pruning. But we will have to see on which deductions, those that are also of less interest to taxpayers, it will be possible to do. All this will enter into the Budget law.
