Leonardo signs agreement to partner with French firm Hynaero on an amphibious fire-fighting aircraft
The agreement provides for the development of the Fregate-F100 programme, an aircraft designed for fighting forest fires
Leonardo has signed a memorandum of understanding with the French company Hynaero for the development of the Fregate-F100 programme, an amphibious fire-fighting aircraft designed to combat forest fires.
The two companies “have announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding” aimed at “setting out the terms of their collaboration on the development and production of key structural aircraft components” for this programme, according to a joint press release.
The project could ‘benefit from the complementary strengths’ of the two partners in areas such as ‘the design, manufacture and validation testing of aeronautical structures, engineering, certification, testing, industrialisation, maintainability, as well as the design and development of systems’, the statement explains.
“This collaboration could also help to promote the programme in Italia and enable us to capitalise on opportunities in foreign markets,” they add.
Under the terms of the agreement, ‘Leonardo could be granted tier-1 supplier status for the production of major structures, such as the fuselage and/or wings’.
