Liguria elections: M5S, Conte's collapse and Grillo's influence
Those who said that Grillo no longer counts for anything were very much mistaken: a five-minute message, accurate in time and content, was enough to change the election result of a region, his own. Not little for a retired comedian

The result of the vote is still in flux but one fact is already quite evident: I speak of the collapse of Conte's party, which is then a collapse of his own. And it is a heavy collapse because without it the centre left would have won easily.
The Grillini did not go to the polls or if they did, they did not vote M5S anyway, and in this they followed the very explicit instructions of Grillo.
Those who said that Grillo no longer counted for anything were very wrong: a five-minute message, accurate in time and content, was enough to change the election result of a region, his own. Not little for a retired comedian.
Conte may now blame Grillo for the election result, but what was Grillo to do? Be grateful to Conte for the way he had turned him away, he who had given him the keys to the house?
It was not like Grillo, who waited for the right moment to knock out Conte. The people's advocate will bounce back with dwindling troops, and then to do what? Behind Grillo there was an idea, behind Conte nothing. The constituent assembly, but what does Conte want to build? At the moment he needs a powerful reconstituent.
